If you are looking for a great "grab-and-go" guitar, please continue reading. The setup is pretty standard (Emmons) from left to right. A pedal raises strings 10 and 5 from B to C#, B pedal raises strings 6 and 3 from G# to A, and pedal C raises string 5 from B to C# and string 4 from E to F#. LKL raises strings 8 and 4 from E to F, LKR lowers strings 8 and 4 from E to D#, RKL lowers strings 6 and 3 from G# to G, and RKR lowers string 9 from D to C# and string 2 from D# to C# with a half-stop feel. This guitar features a triple raise/ single lower changer (behind the pictured "grate" similar to MSA guitars of the era). The nylon tuning nuts use a 2mm allen wrench, which is inserted into the hole. The changer also features adjustable lower return springs. The knee levers use Sho-Bud style barrel tuners for the adjustable stops and have adjustable resting position(s) using small allen head screws. The mica body features a 24 scale wood neck (with Sho-Bud-esque inlay) and the older Excel logo. The tuning keys are Greco branded, and the extended keyhead affords additional space when barring at the 1st fret. This guitar has passive volume and tone controls, as well as a switch to engage/ defeat the controls. Additionally, there is a 3-way switch with preset tone cut/ boost (with center being bypassed). Overall, it is a pretty standard S-10. It was originally set up with RKL lowering strings 10 and 5 from B to A#, but I find the G# lower to be more useful (for me). The bellcranks have three positions, and I haven't found a way to relocate the retaining barrel to another hole. Excel is still building guitars, and I'm sure that new bellcranks could be ordered, if needed. As it is, I have tuned all the strings and changes to concert tuning (A=440). There is one piece that is not original; one of the steel pieces that retains the pedal pull rod (and screw-mounts to the pedal) was lost. I made two replacement steel retaining pieces and used nylon nuts. One has been installed on the guitar, and the other set will come in a plastic bag, in case a replacement is needed in the future. I just replaced the strings with Nickel Ernie Ball E9 strings and tuned the undercarriage. I oiled the roller nut, as well as the changer, when I changed the strings. The rubber knee lever covers are removable. The original case is included, as well as the rod and leg pouch. The case is in good shape, overall. If I can figure out a way to glue the divider into place, I will do so. Please message me if you need an approximate weight of the guitar in the case.
