All electrolytic capacitors are new, and the tone capacitors are selected for sound. Each chassis is tested after assembly and the sine centering adjusted for the standard tone stack performance. Or search maicodoug (one word) and look for anything that says "510/11" on my youtube channel.
A ton of compression, as pulloffs' are just about as loud as a hard strum. Here is a little background about these amps... These chassis are hand wired by myself, going on 45 years as a "maker" in the electronics field.
All of my Octal Tube Amps are designed to give the earliest kind of Sun Recording Studio sound. Musical Amplifiers using the larger 8 pin (Octal) are all I have ever built. This hot bias'ed 3 Tube early 40's Copy has a Fat Octal sound. Some NOS (New Old Stock) Tube line up. Featuring a 6 position Mode Switch. Master Volume as all of Indigo Labs Amps come with. Warm Distortion, to Dirty Blue and NO hum. Very, very quite at idle. Comes with all USA tubes. The Power Transformer has yet to get warm at full output, as does the Output Transformer. This single 8 watter has power that lets you get deep into the swamp, but still breakup well at lower volumes.
Designed to play with all controls near max'ed. The Mode Switch on this Amp has 6 positions with very sweet "chimey" 6V6 sound. This particular chassis (Serial 1021) is voiced for less dynamic range (more compression) (using the MODE switch) between "CLEAN" (position 1) to vibrant & full sustain (5 & 4), then going to the more harmonic modes 3,2, that exhibit a squelching tendency, with the #6 position ending with a warm octal tube fuzz. It is important to remember with an amplifier like this, is that the player has to "play the amp". That is, to take what everyone knows, the style of that time. The "walk and talk" that single string picking and lead has the sound of way back in that time. Full bar cords will bloom and fuzz, buzz, so brown that you have to send ahead for a reservation.
(hit a string once or twice), otherwise a squelch will kill all the sound and go to a full quieting. Very nice for lead recording. Riding the squelch lends for very "evel" sounding leads (Mode Switch 3 & 4). Full quieting with a time delay (position 3 Apx 1 second, position 4, Apx 2-3 seconds) Also that Texas "La Grunge" that this Amp has become famous for.The Treble control is active. Actually another volume control on this chassis.
There is no " tone cut" as common with everyother guitar amplifiers. Has absolutely NO hum or buzz at Max settings with an average input cord. Not bad for AC filaments. Compression is very high, so you can play clean with your guitar Volume knob at half way, then crank it up for your lead solo with slightly more loudness, just your now distorted. Hammering and pull offs are very full and bright, about 75% of a hard strum.
Switchcraft input grounding jack, Switchcraft output as well. 062 power coated Aluminum Cage. All Teflon Coax wiring except ground & B+ wires. Works best with 1 or 2ea. Limited Lifetime Warranted (Excluding Tubes). Get your Valco / Jimmy Page sounding style ON! If you have any questions what so ever, feel free to contact me. There have been no failures. The tubes are all USA manufactured. Most of the parts are from the era of when the sound was marked in history. All the tubes that are used in these chassis are from the 40s and 50s. Including the "point to point" wiring technique with modern safety features. There is an input line filter for your recording requirements. There is a "Mode" switch with 6 settings. These range from a "slight clean" to the brownest to brown, fuzz, fuzz & buzz, and #11. The Treble Boost knob is just that, a boost, not a cut. That and the standard "PRE & Master" adjustments. For other power input options, message me Pls.
